Testimonials

Visiting Askari is like coming home, my second home. Good friends, great company, always something new to learn and love. It’s a privilege to be part, in a tiny way, of a team here and across the world trying to keep something wild alive and well in the Anthropocene. Thank you again, Katie, Robbie, Andrew and Ryan for being all round awesome role models in conservation commitment.  ...

A perfect balance of challenge and accomplishment. You don’t just learn things about the marvelous wildlife, you learn a ton about your own self too. A true adventure with the perfect people to guide you through it!...

Askari is an amazing programme that provides an unforgettable experience. Conservation work, an immense amount of learning and ID skills all happening in this awesome environment led by such outstanding and caring individuals. I’ll never forget my time here or the people I spent it with....

This was my second time at Askari and like I thought, it was as extraordinary and meaningful as the first time. Just the fact that there are so many returnees really shows how Askari has impacted all of us. The thirst for Africa is in the little things. It starts when you wake up to see the sunrise and hear the birds singing their daily lullaby. It’s in the eyes, filled with passion for the bush of the amazing people that are Katie & Robbie. It’s at the end of a long day, when you can feel the ache in your arms, but still smile knowing you made a difference. It’s in the sound of the lions at night, roaring...

A once in a lifetime experience, except of course you are able to come back. And let’s be hones,t it’s hard not to. Katie and Robbie have made this the most incredible, exciting and entertaining learning experience I’ve ever had. It’s incredible to be a part in managing this benchmark reserve....

Askari truly is a magical place. The sights and experiences offered here are second to none complemented by very knowledgeable and friendly staff. The trip of a lifetime awaits you at Askari where magic is everywhere you look. Just be sure not to blink....

You won’t find any experience in South Africa quite like that provided by Askari. You are well taken care of and you will leave with a wealth of knowledge that you will impress the world with whether it’s birds, insects, reptiles or mammals. A whole world awaits you at Askari....

My 4 weeks here at Askari have been the best month of my life. Going to Africa and seeing animals such as lions, elephants and so on has been a “bucket list” dream of mine. Here at Askari I have seen everything, and not only that, I’ve gained appreciation and awe for so many aspects of conservation and bush life. Katie, Robbie, Cas and Andrew all did an amazing job welcoming us and guiding us through experiences I could never have even imagined! The Askari staff are so knowledgeable. I know I’ve only glimpsed a tip of the iceberg yet I’ve gained so much. Their passion is contagious, even after years in the bush, they are still just as excited...

This was my second time to Askari and I would come back 6 more times if I could. The projects we are involved in are once in a lifetime opportunities. Askari is more than game drives and cool sightings. It’s a selfless volunteer project to help the ecosystem. We all leave caring about the trees, ants and with a different perspective. The worst part about Askari is that your second home is 18 hours away!...

This place feels like home with the staff and family vibes. But your backyard is a playground like no other. I came to Askari with no animal, tree or bird knowledge and am amazed that I am leaving being able to pick out almost everything that is running around in the bush! Askari allows you to get hands-on wilderness experience with photos and memories that will last forever. Eternally grateful!...
