The days feel long, but the weeks go by way too fast. This coming from someone who couldn’t go to a friends house for a sleepover without getting homesick. I think I can safely say that I have never felt so comfortable away from home being here. Katie, Robbie and the rest of the staff here are so unbelievably knowledgeable, in an area that even as environmental student, goes far beyond what we know, and yet they see us and treat us as equals. They seemed just as eager to learn from us as we did from them. I felt completely safe during my time here and would happily come back in a heartbeat. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place...

Askari really provided me with the basic knowledge of the South African bush. All of the staff were knowledgeable and approachable. My time spent here was extremely worthwhile and I would do it a million times more ! Words really can’t describe how surreal this experience was for me...

Askari was, you can say, "a dream come true". The early mornings were nothing in comparison to the joy I felt making a difference. The satisfaction received when doing the smallest of tasks was unlike anything I've done before. All staff, Robbie, Katie were so helpful. I feel like I've learned more and made more of a difference in my 2 week stay than I have through my career thus far. I love this place and will definitely return....

I knew my time at Askari would be incredible, but I never imagined it would change the course of my life. Feeling inspired and commited to conservation above all other paths....

Dr. Ian player describes "Wilderness as a blueprint of what creation was about in the beginning. When all the plants and trees and animals were magnetic, fresh from the hands of whatever created them". Askari is the window between civilization and wilderness. They give you a glimpse of beauty in a safe confortable and informative environment. When working with Askari you build a connection or bond, not only with your team but also with the landscape. No words can describe the emotions felt with each sunset or the excitement of a mammal sighting. From my experience, Askari will be a lifetime memory....

My two weeks spent here at Askari have been extremely rewarding, enjoyable, memorable and encompassing in regards to the experiences I've had here. Every moment in the field and working was worthwhile and different every day. The amount of wildlife we saw was just astounding. I’d recommend this experience to all of my friends because it is incredible...

Seldom do you find an organization who has their heart in the right place. It was an absolute priviledge to volunteer with Askari. Their passion and knowledge is evident in everything they do. I left feeling like I’d acheived something and that’s all a volunteer ever wants. Katie, Robbie and the rest of the staff at Askari were amazing. Being halfway accross the world would have usually been a big step for me. The staff were great through. I instantly felt like I was welcomed as a part of their team. It's difficult to describe my time at Askari in a way that does the experience justice, but I’d do it a thousand times over. It was a life changing 2...

I can't say enough good things about Askari. I spent three months there, from January to April 2018 and had a fantastic experience. As someone that is passionate about ecology and restoration, this was the perfect volunteering experience for me. The program focuses on the broader ecosystem and the Pidwa/ Askari team know that to sustain the characteristic mega-fauna you must focus on soils and vegetation, as well as wildlife management. As a volunteer be prepared to work hard, as volunteers here truly play a huge role in ensuring that this restored ecosystem is functioning as it should. You can be involved in anything from building fences, to eliminating invasive plant species, to the translocation of wildlife. The work is incredibly...

Volunteering at Askari truly is an eye opening and life changing experience. after studying biology at uni I spent a few years not really knowing which direction I wanted to take my life in. 3 months volunteering at Askari has changed that and re-ignited my passion for the natural world, inspiring me to return and complete a guiding course as soon as I am able. Every day is a learning experience here and I couldn’t recommend Askari highly enough, anyone and everyone should take time out to experience the beauty of the African bush. It will not be forgotten or regretted....

I spent 4 weeks at Askari and it was not enough, I needed more. I didn’t study anything related to wildlife conservation but I’ve always been interested in it so I decided to do this programme for 4 weeks. During my stay in SA I only stayed at Askari, no beaches, no Cape Town, but I would do it again. It was amazing! In the orientation week I’ve learnt a lot about conservation, animal management and then we put that all into practice. You really feel you are helping and doing a lot for maintaining the correct habitat for the animals. Katie an Ed are wonderful people, with them around you always feel good and they will answer all your...
