Happy New Year Askarians and what a great one it’s already shaping up to be! The lions are back in town, huge rains meant a flooded Pidwa and raging Selati river and ‘Project Impisi’ research is well underway. We bid a sad farewell to a much loved staff member but also welcome new additions to the Askari and Pidwa teams. December 2011

We started December with a busy few weeks before winding down for the long christmas break. There was another brown hyaena to collar, a sable darting and plenty of rhino sightings; not to mention the staff christmas parties to be enjoyed! ‘Kevin’ the baby warthog made it through the danger zone and spent the month growing from strength to strength. November 2011

It has been another great month at Askari with a cheetah relocation, brown hyaena dartings and the arrival of a new rhino cow. Reserve projects continued as did wildlife monitoring and the team learnt some new skills while mastering the art of baby warthog rearing! ‘Project Impisi’ saw the release of our brown hyaena into the wild and their new home.
